The Ἔrιs Quartet brings together four musicians whose work spans contemporary classical music, interdisciplinary performance, and traditional chamber repertoire. 

Eris has performed across the United States, including a 23-performance East Coast tour, appearances at Bang on a Can’s Long Play Festival, and performances at venues ranging from museums and libraries to community spaces and correctional institutions. The quartet has collaborated with artists including the Verona Quartet, percussionist Ross Karre, violist Kirsten Docter, and experimental guitarist and composer, Wendy Eisenberg. Their work has been featured by WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase, and they have appeared as Quartet-in-Residence at New Music on the Point, where they worked closely with the JACK Quartet.

A central part of Eris’s work is the creation and performance of new music. The ensemble has premiered works by composers including Ben Nobuto and Jeremy Esquer, collaborated with multidisciplinary artists including bassist Malcolm Bamba and vocalist Florence Gill, and developed performances that incorporate improvisation, electronics, percussion, movement, and visual art. Their ongoing collaboration with Wendy Eisenberg has resulted in a forthcoming album of new music, scheduled for release on Dear Life Records in 2027.

The quartet’s members maintain active careers beyond Eris. Their individual work includes performances with Bang on a Can All-Stars, Eighth Blackbird, International Contemporary Ensemble, Wild Up, and the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, as well as appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Long Play and LOUD Weekend festivals.

The name Ἔrιs comes from the Greek goddess of chaos. Their work embraces that spirit, bringing rhythm to chaos and inviting audiences into the process of discovering what comes next.
